Nettle
(Urtica dioca) is
an excellent way to treat a wide range of aliments, from arthritis
to urinary complaints. People suffering from gout, or other
rheumatic ailments can rub the stinging sprigs of nettle directly
on aching joints. The treated areas might become flushed with
blood, which acts to relieve the pain.
Nettles is also known for it’s laxative and detoxifying
properties.
The leaves and roots of the herb can also be brewed as a
diuretic and helps prostate complaints.
It is a good source of iron and silica.
To
treat prostate complaints
Unless
your doctor directs otherwise, men with an enlarged prostrate can
take nettle-root tea to relieve urinary difficulties. Brew 1 tsp
or a tea ball full of coarsely ground root in 1 cup of boiling
water. Steep for 10 minutes and strain.
Drink 2-3 cups daily.
To
combat anemia
Use
½ oz nettle leave, ½ oz yarrow flowers, ½ oz St. John’s Wort,
½ oz juniper berries and ¼ oz peppermint leaves. Pour boiling
water over the mixture; use 1-2 tsp of herbs per cup. Steep for 10
minutes, strain. Sip it half an hour after means. This tea tastes
good sweetened with honey.
Nettle
tea is a perfect thirst quencher. It also provides many health
benefits because nettles are rich in vitamins and minerals. It
also removes a wide range of wastes and toxins from the blood and
body.
But nettle tea should not be taken for more than four
weeks. It should never be used by those with a weakened heart or
kidneys due to heart failure and renal disease.
